But there's a reason, I have a plan.
I know that most of the time the plan gets thrown out the window - at least mine do - but I am gonna try. We have a visitor coming early afternoon, and then .... we will attempt to run some errands. I only have 3 (maybe 4 - depending on everyone's attitude and the time it takes us to get some of the first one's done) on today's agenda - bank, drop off Craig's shirts for embroidery, and the grocery store. I would like to take B to the craft store if that is at all possible. As long as Baby K gets fed before we leave we should be OK - right? We'll see - she is the only kid I know that screams her head off when the car is moving and the only way to calm her is to feed her. And poor B - she gets so upset, not because Baby K is screaming and she is sympathizing with her, but because she can't hear the TV.
Yesterday went well. I incorporated a few "new" rules into my household - thanks to the advice of my mom. It worked.
Rule #1: Listen and obey your parents - the first time - or else.... (I will have to re-check Kristen's blog and get that motto off hers - about obeying - I think I will frame that somewhere around here)
Rule #2: Pick up your toys, by yourself, and put them away - no whining allowed.
So, B tested Rule#1 last night. Usually we would holler something along the lines of "If you don't listen to me, you are going straight to bed" which would then be followed by a few more unsuccessful attempts of getting her to do what we wanted.
Last night shocked her.
Here's the story:
She has eczema bad in the winter and we have to lotion her constantly. It came time to get ready for bed. She thought it would be funny to run from us when we told her it was time to get lotioned up. We told her it was not a game and reminded her of rule #1, also the consequence would be that she would lose TV privileges in our room for the evening (we let her watch 30 minutes of a kid show in there before bed). She continued to run. So I (aka "the bad guy") head to my bedroom, grab the remote, and turn the TV OFF. I put the remote away. So she heads to the living room where I put lotion on her. A few minutes later, she heads to the bedroom and hollers "Mom, I can't find the remote", and I holler back "You don't get to watch TV in there tonight." which was followed by tears and "I'm sorry mom" - usually that would have been enough of an apology, and we would give in and give her what she wanted BUT.... I kept saying "I know, and next time you will listen, right? We'll try again tomorrow."
So today is tomorrow - we'll see if she gets it.
On a happy note : here are some pics I took yesterday and some from Tuesday. Aren't they just the cutest?
